Founded: January 9, 1914 at Howard University in Washington, D.C.,
Motto: Culture For Service and Service For Humanity
Founded by three young African-American men, Phi Beta Sigma was created to exemplify the ideals of brotherhood, scholarship and service. Striving to be all inclusive, the organization wanted to be a part of the community, as opposed to separate. The brothers gain experience and skills that are not meant to be used selfishly, but rather it should be shared and used to better the community and world as a whole.
